Before you can set up your website you will need to purchase a domain name. The domain name you choose will identify your website on the Internet.

Some tips for choosing your domain name!

1. Choose a domain name that reflects your online presence. For example - If you have a business called MyCompany Ltd., you could register the domain name MyCompany.co.uk. Visitors would be able to access your organisation's Web site by visiting "www.companyname.co.uk" with their Web browser.
   
   
2. Make sure the domain name is short, simple and easy to remember.
   
   
3. A domain name gives you the ability to send and receive eMail using the name you have purchased. If you register the domain name MyCompany.co.uk, you can have your eMail addresses, such as;
   marketing@companyname.co.uk,
   sales@companyname.co.uk,
   or AnyNameYouWant@companyname.co.uk.

What domain name should I get - .co.uk/.com/.net etc?

It is also advisable to register your company's name with both the .co.uk and .com extensions as these are the ones that are commonly used throughout the UK and overseas. This will prevent your competitors or future competitors from registering a domain name similar to yours and operating a mirror Web site competing against yours.
